My Oma teaches me to knit. I did know how to once, and the concepts of the knit and purl stitch hover on the edge of my memory. The above rhyme in Dutch explains a simple knit stitch. Here is a rough translation:

Go in, circle around, pull through and let go.

I keep knitting hats when I return to London. I will send them to her to sell for charity. It was a special moment we shared together. As her short-term memory fades, she lives more and more in the past.
